Elementary K-5
Once students enter the elementary program at the age of 5 years, the program takes on a new approach. The reliance on materials to supplement learning is reduced while mental ability takes on a more important role. ABC Montessori’s curriculum uses the Ministry of Education guidelines to develop an enhanced learning curriculum that encourages the student to build a strong foundation of the fundamentals in numeracy and literacy. Students undergo a rigorous work plan that teaches English, Math, French, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, and Physical Education.
The Enhanced Learning programs have been fine-tuned over the years to address changes in the Ministry curriculum and have been improved each year based on teacher feedback. A majority of our Grade 5 students proceed to specialized highly competitive Region of Peel programs such as International Baccalaureate (IB), Science and Technology (SciTech), and International Business and Technology (IB Tech). Students in Grades 4 and 5 also participate in the annual Mathematica Contest in which our school has been placed as a top private school in Mississauga.
